In praise of Affair Repair for Therapists

"Amanda provides effective guidance for therapists helping couples move from pain and shock of betrayal to a transformed marriage. This was a very beneficial webinar, well worth the time and investment."

Learn the Marriage and Affair Phases (MAP) of Repair and Transformation

AFFAIR REPAIR is accomplished via the MAP of Repair and Transformation which provides functional vocabulary and practical skills to guide couples- and their therapists- through the healing process. Attendees will be taught effective AFFAIR REPAIR strategies to help their clients overcome an affair and transform their marriages. Opportunities will be offered for practical application in case consultation.

The MAP of Repair and Transformation has two parts and seven phases:

PART ONE: AFFAIR REPAIR

Phase 1: Normalcy

Phase 2: Discovery

Phase 3: Crisis

Phase 4: Affair PTS (and Disenfranchised Grief)

Phase 5: Affair Repair

Phase 6: Establishing Trust

PART TWO: MARRIAGE TRANSFORMATION

Phase 7: MARRIAGE TRANSFORMATION of reasoning, reliability, desirability, sexuality, and antifragility. (These are not linear phases, but concurrent and ongoing areas of growth.)

Each phase will address the unique, but intertwined experiences of the betrayer/repairing and betrayed/healing partner. Knowing where the couple is in the process and what to do will help provide confidence in pursuing healthy outcomes.

The MAP of Repair and Transformation follows the trajectory of the well-established general adaptation syndrome (GAS) model and incorporates some of the best practices of trauma, couples, and individual counseling.
